So, I am enjoying this novel for the second time. I read it years ago, then recently purchased it for my kindle. It's interesting, the genius kids hit the nail on the head and the bad guys are bad. It moves at a good pace, is a bit suspenseful. It's high tech for the era in which it was written. It doesn't seem quite as fantastical now but it still holds up.

So here's the issue: PLEASE edit the text. Seriously? The hardcopy was published in 1993. The digital copy has serious misprints. A lot. More than should be in any book you pay for. I am not sure why publishers think that readers want to pay top dollar for books that are not edited. I don't remember the hardcopy being riddled with errors.

John Saul once again takes us to places never imagined!! Great book and a wonderful read. This is a story that makes you think and wonder...could this already be happening in the world. Must read!
I have been reading John Saul for quite some time. He's a go-to writer that never disappoints me. This book was bone chilling and I can read really dark fiction. I highly recommend this book and others from John Saul.
I'm so glad I got this on through BookBub because I don't care for horror novels anymore and would have hated spending much money on it. I won't describe the book because it's been done but agree that the edition is poorly edited with many typos and misspellings that are annoyingly frequent.The plot line would be more suited to young adult fiction. It did hold my interest for a little while and is clearly intended to have a sequel but that won't be on my wishlist. The ending was too Pinky & the Brain.
This book is really twisted and disturbing. The title seems like an odd choice since it's only linked to once in the book.

The reason I'm giving this four stars instead of five (it's really like a 4.5), is that part of the story never gets wrapped up and that drives me insane. I hate loose endings that the author made seem important.

Really though, it's a great book.
It was a well-written story. The kids lead normal lives in the beginning of the book. As the story processed, Amy and Adam were used in an experimental project. It started to get scary toward the end of the book.
I have read almost all his first 15 or so books and have enjoyed them all. I have lived overseas for a number of years and not had access to his books. I now have IPad and can return to reading one on my most favorite authors.
His book "shadows" is another outstanding works.
It will make you think about computers and its possibilities.
ITS ALSO A SCARY BOOK.
Once you start to read it hard to put down.
Keep on trucking.

My son loves this book. I had it years ago and he had read it as a teenager and now at 25 he was asking if I still had it.d I probably do just couldn't find it so i bought him his own and had it shipped. He was pretty stoked. John Saul is a great author and this is yet another reason to love him that my son could remember a book and love it that much from that long ago.
